How to: Reset customized PowerPoint toolbars to default settings.
Solution:
Either restore the default icons but not the default positions, or restore all of the toolbars' default icons and positions.
Do one of the following to reset PowerPoint default toolbar settings:
1) Restore a toolbar or toolbars' default set of icons, but NOT the default positions:
a) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Toolbars...'. (The Toolbars dialog box appears.)
NOTE: Each toolbar currently in use is selected.
b) Clear (uncheck) all check boxes.
c) Select each of the check boxes that had been previously selected.
d) Click 'Reset'.
e) Click 'Close'.
2) Restore all toolbars to the default set of icons AND to the default positions:
NOTE 1: Any custom settings will be removed.
NOTE 2: This method only applies to PowerPoint for Windows.
a) Close PowerPoint.
b) Open 'Notepad'.
1] Click Windows 'Start'.

2] Select 'Programs'.
3] Select 'Accessories'.
4] Select 'Notepad'. (Notepad opens.)
c) Open POWERPNT.INI:
1] Select the 'File' menu and select 'Open...'. (The Open dialog box appears.)
2] Select the WINDOWS directory from the 'Look in' list box.
3] Type POWERPNT.INI in the 'File name' box.
4] Click 'Open'. (POWERPNT.INI opens in Notepad.)
d) Move to the '[Toolbars]' section.
[Toolbars] section
e) Delete all entries under the '[Toolbars]' section.
f) Restart PowerPoint. (The toolbars are reset to the default icons and positions.)
